Front, Dial, Back, Case mark, Front lid inside, Back dial and movement The first Waltham Chronographs are those with Lugren's patent applied to a dial on the back of the watch. These are simple chronographs in a range of finish. The nickel finish as in this example is the top grade of these watches although some are rumored to have full gold trains as well as the nickel damascening. The back dials are very fragile and are often damaged as in this watch. There are good quality reproductions currently being made that can restore the appearance of such watches.. Although the condition is not the best, this watch has a very attractive enamel inlaid 18K AWCo case. The case will eventually be restored. The serial number of the movement is not visible without removing the back dial I will add it later to this description.
